Are you searching for the best electric toothbrush for kids? There are so many on the market that it can be hard to know which ones are actually good for your child and work well.
Our pediatric dentist has always recommended using an electric toothbrush for our kids, but we always had a hard time finding a good one — until recently! So many of them either got moldy, didn’t hold a charge well, or just didn’t appeal to our kids.
But after much trial and error (well — lots of error and disappointment), I’ve finally found a kids’ electronic toothbrush that my kids and I love and swear by: the Quip Rubber Kids 2-Minute Electric Toothbrush. (Not their “smart” kids toothbrush!)

Quip makes two types of kids’ toothbrushes: the original kids electric toothbrush and the smart kids toothbrush. This review is only for the original electric toothbrush. In fact, I do not recommend the smart toothbrush at all. There’s no need to connect every device to our phones — especially a toothbrush!
Anyway, here’s why we love our Quip Kids Toothbrushes…
Reason #1: The Quip Toothbrush is Hole-Free!
The main thing I was searching for was an electric toothbrush for kids with no holes. IFYKYK, right?
It’s not a difficult concept. I didn’t want my kids’ toothbrushes to get moldy and expose them to mold as they brushed their teeth.
But most electric toothbrushes are poorly designed and have this weird hole near the bristles that allows water to get inside the brush and form mold. It honestly blows my mind!
So I would buy these expensive electric toothbrushes, and after a couple of weeks of using them (Oral-B, for example), the hole would inevitably form mold. If I wasn’t diligent enough to clean the brush or replace the brush head, my kids would be brushing their teeth while getting a mouthful of mold.
You can imagine how stressful this was for me as a mom. Not only was I responsible for keeping my kids happy, fed, stimulated, and on the right path in life, but I had to remember to clean their toothbrush every few days, so they weren’t getting a mouthful of mold.
So I kept searching for an electric toothbrush that didn’t have this bizarre hole, and I finally found the Quip Kids Toothbrush. I was so excited to find it simply because it was made for kids and had no hole.
Problem? Solved!
Reason #2: My Kids Love Brushing With Their Quip Toothbrush
The second thing I was looking for was a sleek toothbrush that my kids would enjoy brushing with. I wanted a high-quality brush that would last longer than the cheap disposable brushes and one that looked cool.
They had outgrown the Paw Patrol and Mickey Mouse electric toothbrushes, and I didn’t want anything that would encourage bad brushing habits. Or something that had bright flashing lights.
I was looking for a higher-quality electric toothbrush for my kids.

This is important because it makes brushing fun. And that means my kids brush their teeth without a fuss. I also find it easy to brush my kids’ teeth with the Quip brush because the handle is thin enough to be comfortable and easy to grip.

Reason #3: The Brush Heads Last Longer Than Other Brands
I had to buy costly brush head replacements when we were using Oral-B toothbrushes. And they wouldn’t last very long because of the mold issue I mentioned above.
So I was spending a lot of money on brush head replacements and often couldn’t even find children’s brush head replacements. This was frustrating, but I bought replacements in bulk from Costco just to keep up with the frequent need to replace the brush heads. (I’m not even sure they were kids’ brush heads I was using sometimes.)

On the other hand, Quip brushes are designed to last three months before the brush heads need to be replaced. And the replacements only cost $5 every three months. This is a lot easier to keep up with.
Reason #4: Quip Brushes are Convenient and Easy to Use
Quip’s Children’s Toothbrush is pretty simple and easy to use out of the box. It doesn’t need to be charged; in fact, it doesn’t even have a charging base. It uses one single battery (included).
The brush has a 2-minute timer that lets my kids know when they’re done brushing their teeth. And it pulses every 30 seconds, which is helpful too.
It has a tongue scraper on the back of the toothbrush; encouraging tongue scraping is great!
Quip also comes with a handy travel case that makes it easy to bring your kids’ toothbrushes on the go with you.
Reason #5: They are Affordable!
Maybe I should have listed this first.
In addition to their sleek and thoughtful design, Quip toothbrushes are affordable. You don’t need to spend $50 or more to buy your child a high-quality toothbrush; Quip’s standard electric toothbrush for kids sells for $25.
And the replacement heads are only $5. That’s another reason we love our Quip brushes!
Reason #6: Quip Toothbrushes are Available at Target and Amazon
I actually discovered Quip brushes while walking down the toothbrush aisle at Target. Quip is available at Target as part of their effort to bring cool online brands in-store. This makes it easy for me when I need to run in and grab a toothbrush (or have one delivered to me via their Shipt service). They’re also available at Amazon, which is convenient too.
And I like the option of being able to order from the Quip website. The replacement brush heads are currently unavailable at Target, so they must be ordered online from the Quip website.
Getting my kids’ toothbrush replacement heads sent to us automatically every three months makes it simple to know when I need to replace them. Love that!
Final Thoughts
I searched for the longest time to find a kids’ electric toothbrush that I was happy with. It really took a lot of trial and error and frustrating walks down the toothbrush aisle at Target. But once we started using Quip, I was so happy to have found “the brush.”
