Wearing matching family pajamas has become one of my favorite holiday traditions. For some reason, waking up on Christmas morning in your matching holiday family pajamas is one of the sweetest and most memorable ways to celebrate the holiday season.
Every year on Christmas Eve, we all wear our matching pajamas and usually have a cup of hot chocolate before bed. And, we take matching Christmas PJs to a whole new level… we take a walk around the neighborhood in our famjams every Christmas morning after we open presents. And we have been known to play Christmas carols along the way.
It’s a really fun tradition and I guarantee you that it’s one your children will remember fondly as they get older. We’ve had so many people respond with joy and delight at seeing us walking around in our matching PJs and it is just so fun and adorable.
And the great news is that when it comes to buying matching family pajamas for the holidays, you now have plenty of options available to you! I’ve rounded up the best places to find matching family PJs so that you have the maximum number of options.
Tips for Buying Matching Family Pajamas
If matching family pajamas are part of your family’s Christmas or holiday traditions, be sure to follow these tips when shopping for your matching family PJs.
🎄 Shop early.
It can be a little tricky to find everyone’s sizes in the same style, so try and shop early. I try to remember to order mine every October, even before we’re truly into the holiday season. But don’t stress if it’s November and you are just getting started, because you’ll likely still have plenty of options. (You’re normal and I’m a little extra when it comes to family jammies.)
🎄 Buy 100% cotton and avoid flame-retardant pajamas.
When buying pajamas for your baby or young children, be sure to avoid synthetic materials and most “flame resistant” pajamas. These are often treated with flame retardant chemicals. Instead, opt for 100% cotton, snug-fit pajamas. You’ll find plenty of these on my list below of where to shop for your family pajamas.
🎄 Plan ahead for next year.
In the past, it mainly used to be Burt’s Bees Baby and Hanna Andersson that made family pajamas and you could buy the same prints for many years. Now, more retailers are making their own lines of family PJs and they’re also getting savvy and using different prints every year. So whereas I used to be able to only replace my kids’ pajamas in the same print every year, now I need to buy an entirely new set for the family or we’d end up mismatching. To avoid this, you might want to consider buying next year’s pajama sizes for your little ones as well. That way the adults can use this year’s pajamas next year and you will be guaranteed to have matching family PJs for next year as well.
🎄 Be flexible.
Matching family PJs are not only becoming more mainstream, but they are becoming more and more expensive. I’m typically pro-organic, but all matching GOTS-organic family pajamas are getting a little pricey. I’ve started getting 100% cotton for the kids and I’ve come to terms with that. I’ve even bought some flannel PJs for my husband and myself. I’m not too worried about it because we both wear our Christmas PJs a few times, tops.
15 Best Matching Holiday Family Pajamas: Where to Shop
So if you are shopping for matching Christmas pajamas, here are the best places to look. Not all of these stores sell organic family pajamas, but all of them carry at least 100% cotton children’s pajamas, if not organic options. Pricing will vary pretty widely from one brand to another, so be sure to find one that works with your budget.
1) Hanna Andersson
Possibly the original maker of matching family pajamas, Hanna Andersson definitely doesn’t disappoint in the matching PJ department. They have several beautiful designs for you to choose from, and they are made with organic cotton.
I highly recommend Hanna Andersson’s pajamas in general. In fact, they are one of the top brands on my list of best organic baby clothing brands. However, these matching family pajamas can be pretty pricey, so keep that in mind as you are shopping.
2) Burt’s Bees Baby
My personal go-to for matching family pajamas is Burt’s Bees Baby. Their pajamas are nicely designed, and I’ve always loved the bright, bold holiday colors and designs they use. I also love that their pajamas are GOTS-certified.
There are two things you need to know about Burt’s Bees Baby matching family pajamas. First, they sell out very fast. So be ready to buy these in October or early November. However, even if some sizes are sold out on their website, you may be able to find the sizes you need on Amazon. And finally, they aren’t as thick as Hanna Andersson’s family pajamas, so their children’s pajamas may not last you as long as Hanna’s. (But the adult pajamas are really well made!)
You can’t go wrong with family pajamas from Burt’s Bees Baby… if you are lucky enough to find your sizes.
3) Pottery Barn Kids
PBK’s matching family pajamas collection is a total winner in my book. They offer several options for you to choose from, including classic holiday designs, character-based pajamas, and fun designs (love their penguin jammies). I love that they offer organic options, but can do run pretty pricey.
4) Monica & Andy
Another one of my favorite organic baby clothing brands, Monica & Andy is bringing their delicate designs to the whole family with their matching Christmas pajamas. You’ll love that their pajamas are not only beautifully designed, but they are GOTS-certified organic as well.
They don’t have as many options available as some of the other brands listed here, but they are really well-made and feature cute designs like gingerbread cookies, Hanukkah, and classic red plaid.
5) Pact Apparel
Pact is also getting into the matching family pajamas game, and you can rest assured that your entire family will be sleeping in on-trend, GOTS-certified organic jammies. Primary is also making matching family pajamas now, and they are a popular choice as well. You might really like Primary’s family pajamas if you are looking for designs that are a bit more bold and less traditional. Their styles are bright and colorful, but still have a festive spirit about them. And they have some solid colors to choose from, as well.

Carter’s has done a really good job with their matching family pajamas. If you are a fan of their t-shirts and onesies, you’ll probably like what they have to offer in the family PJ department. You have plenty to choose from, including everything from fun designs to classic holiday looks.
What Carter’s has also done well is offer different fabrics for you to choose from. I’m not typically a fan of synthetic fleece, but they say theirs isn’t chemically treated and is flame resistant because of the fabric weave. (Some of their fleece family pajamas are Oeko-Tex certified.) However, they do offer many 100% cotton options.
8) Posh Peanut
Posh Peanut has become a go-to for families who love coordinated looks beyond just holiday pajamas. If you’re looking for playful, modern, and versatile matching outfits, Posh Peanut offers a unique twist on the family-matching tradition.
9) Leveret
I was also really happy to see that Leveret also makes matching family pajamas. They offer 100% cotton, snug-fit pajamas in classic holiday designs (and they are also tagless, which is really nice).
10) Old Navy
A great option to consider for your matching family PJs? Old Navy’s matching family PJs. No, they aren’t organic. No, they aren’t all 100% cotton. But they are more budget-friendly than some of the other brands on this list and you’ll find plenty of cute options to choose from. (Just make sure the children’s pajamas are 100% cotton.)
11) Little Sleepies
A really cute option for matching family pajamas is Little Sleepies. Their pajamas are out-of-this-world cute, but because they are made from bamboo viscose, I wouldn’t necessarily recommend them for general use. But for the holidays? Sure. They’re cute and decently priced. Picture-worthy, actually.
12) Etsy
Have you considered checking Etsy for matching family pajamas? There are surprisingly several options for you to choose from, including personalized holiday pajamas, holiday sweatshirts, and more. Don’t overlook Etsy – this is a great place to shop for matching family pajamas.
13) The Children’s Place
Another good option for buying matching family PJs is The Children’s Place. Their pajamas range from classic to modern/fun and are priced really well. They also offer several 100% cotton options and several sizes, so you can’t go wrong!
14) Target
Target has some really cute matching family pajamas, including 100% cotton options for adults and children. If you’re lucky enough to find all the sizes you need, Target can be a great option for cute pajamas that aren’t overpriced. You might need to look in-store, and do so right after Halloween, to find all the sizes you need.
15) Kohl’s
Kohl’s has some matching family pajamas, but many are made from polyester. The designs are cute and you may luck out and find something in 100% cotton, but many of the pajamas I looked at (including baby pajamas) were made from polyester.
They carry the LC Lauren Conrad collection, which is cute, affordable, and has some cotton pajama options. I would probably go with this brand if you do shop from Kohl’s.
16) Amazon
Finally, if you haven’t found the right holiday PJs for your family at one of the brands listed above, I would definitely check Amazon. You’ll find a range of options on Amazon, so spend some time looking for the material and design you want at the price you are looking for.
